New Club Welfare Officer

FevNet have appointed Denise Jones as the new Club Welfare Officer. Denise and her family has been a huge support to the community club in attending meetings, getting sponsorship deals for the club as well as helping in administrative duties. We would like to thank Denise for accepting the role which involves looking after the team's welfare interests.

Denise is in our opinion the best candidate for the role, with FevNet's youngest player Danny Jones being Denise's son, reinforcing that she will ensure the club are responsible and appeal to the younger generation players.

Rovers Push Fax All The Way

Fevnet travelled to top of the league Halifax with only the starting line up available, but gave an outstanding display of flowing rugby and at times fantastic passing.

It was Rovers who took the early lead when Simon Vickers put Andy Mitchell through the smallest of gaps, and he then went on to beat 3 defenders to go over after only 2 mins of play. Fax then turned the screw and managed to open up 3 try defeciet, the defensive efforts of Danny Jones, Chris Taylor, Andy Nicholls stopped fax running away with this game and Rovers mounted assault after assault on the Fax line before Andy Mitchell crossed then Vickers and shortly before half time Chris Mitchell bagged his first of the day. With the half time score only 12 - 10 rovers could see there was a massive chance for them to snatch this game away from Fax.

The second half though didnt start well when from the kick off one tackle was made before fax raced away to score, it went try for try most of the second period that spell saw Andy Nicholls, Danny Jones, Simon Vickers, Andy Mitchell and Chris Mitchell all score. In the last five mins when fax made changes and brought fresh legs on, something Rovers could not do, and those changes saw them open up a 4 point gap that Rovers despite a gallent effort could not claw back.

Andy Mitchell bagged his second man of the match award in as many games, Club Sec Chris Mitchell said after the game "every single one of the Rovers players today is the man of the match, we came here today to give them a challenge and we gave them more than even we imagined, we can be proud of the way we performed"

Andy Mitchell Smashes Record

Andy Mitchell is the newest addition to the community club and played his first important league game of the season. In an amazing team performance, Andy Mitchell scored 7 tries in his debut against Rochdale Swarm, awarding him with this seasons leading try scorer (including friendlies).

In assessing the player statistics it is evident that we have a strong team with frequent and increasing tries coming from a range of players. As the team attend more games these statistics and team skills develop and become even more defining. In looking at the statistics, in particular, it is clear that Andy Mitchell is a key player in providing consistent progress.

Funding Application

In order to boost our funding, the team entered The Yorkshire Radio competition in which Chris Taylor submitted a proposal. The criteria for the proposal were: in 300 words describe what the team is, how would the £1000 prize money benefit your team and the impact it will have, and why your team deserve to win over others. In the report we emphasised the diversity of the game and how everyone can get involved no matter what age or gender. This application was important in requesting funding to purchase kit, equipment and club necessities, however, unfortunately this process was unsuccessful.

On a more positive note, the team are in the process of applying for £5000 funding 'Awards for All' this application will be an annual process in which we will apply for the same amount next year as well. This funding will be going towards the overall running of the club, including marketing, events, transport, as well as teamwear, equipment and facility hire.

Selby Warriors Lend FevNet Support

With FevNet only just starting to build the team we have not yet invested in our own team kit. The missing element of a team kit, for us, is important and very much missed. This may sound a little extravagant; however, the symbolic image of a uniform portrays strength, unity and gives an overall professional exterior. As a team we felt that we needed some form of kit temporarily in place until we got our own. This is when Selby Warriors stepped in to lend us a helping hand and gave us one of their old team kits. Although it is not our own, you can’t beat the feeling of when you all proudly walk onto the pitch. We would like to give a special thanks to Selby Warriors for lending us their kit.

Polo Shirts

FevNet have launched their new polo shirts made exclusively available to members of the team. As Club Secretary, Chris Mitchell, stated "The club need and want to establish a team identity." We feel that the team look more professional and official with the polo shirts, which are the team light blue colours, and have a more defined team identity.

The polo shirt are now available to purchase for the supporters. If you would like to order your polo shirt send us an email fevnet_rovers@hotmail.com with Polo shirts in the subject box, then please state sizes required and quantity. The shirts are just £10* and available from our Team Manager, Chris Taylor, before the home games.

*Players can order the polo shirt at a discounted price of £7. If you are interested at becoming involved and would like more details please feel free to contact us or alternatively you can come to a training match and meet the team.

Poster Advertisments

The Rugby Football League have also provided FevNet Rovers CRL with over 100 posters in order to promote Tag Rugby which will be put up in the local area. Keep an eye out for our posters which will feature information about our upcoming matches and training sessions. Tag Rugby is a sport which enables both men and women, of any age and ability to get involved. We welcome any support and new players to come and join us.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us fevnet_rovers@hotmail.co.uk.

FevNet Rovers 19 - 24 Rochdale Swarm

It was a full blooded affair in shocking weather, that saw both teams have a man shown a straight red card, two each in the chill bin and one each in the sin bin.

Rovers started the game full of confidence and that showed through when Debutant Andy Mitchell crossed for the first of his seven try's, but Rovers switched off in defence and Rochdale took three settling drives before putting their big prop through on a short ball to level the scores.

It was a very close fought end to end affair and both teams handled well in shocking conditions, It was a day forwards love and both teams set of forwards got through a lot of work Kev Tonks, Chris Mitchell, Steve Booth and Dave Rush running well.

Rovers had a good strong squad but again the game was lost in the final quater when fitness allied with a couple of injuries and of course the ill discipline lost it when the Rochdale forwards ran riot.

Every single player should be proud of their efforts, scorers for Rovers were: Danny Jones, Andy Mitchell (7), Simon Vickers (4), Chris Mitchell, Chris Taylor (3), Dave Rush, Lee Slater (2).

With a little more concentration and hard work a win wont be too far away for ever improving Rovers.

FevNet are eagerly anticipating the game and are looking to give their best performance as Saturday will be the ultimate test for the team. The committee have set several aims for this season, so the game on Saturday is a must win game, even at this early stage of the season. Logo Launched

FevNet Rovers are proud to announce the final designs of the new look club logo. The new style shows the club is ambitious and professionally run, by approaching a professional graphic designer. The logo is stylish, sleek and gets the message across as to who we are and what we do.

After weeks of designs and votings, Team Manager, Chris Taylor commented "We are trying to show the TML and the rest of Rugby League that we are here to stay and we mean business." Club Secretary Chris Mitchell, stressed the importance of the logo "Each club must have its own identity, ours sends a powerful message across"

Many of the hours spent working on the club are starting to come into fruitation, with the club logo being one of them. Graphic Designer Matthew Whiteley, is a member of the local community, who needed a logo to design for his university course, we were delighted that he approached us and we could arrange a link between ourselves. "We are delighted with the final design and we look forward to future digital artwork" commented CT. Please contact Matthew Whiteley for quotes on any Graphic Design.

Matthew proudly stated "Working with a community club was a change of pace for me. Therefore I wanted to design a logo of which would promote the clubs professionally run nature and still have a contemporary feel."

FevNet Rovers 8 - 14 East Riding RLFC

Despite a very Gallant effort from Fevnet they succombed to a much stronger and fitter Easts side which comprised of 6 summer conference players and 5 CMS Yorkshire league players.

The writing was on the wall for the first quater after only couple of mins when easts worked the ball very well catching Rovers out with a good switch in play to score the first of the day. That though seemed to be the wake up call rovers needed, strong running from forwards Chris Mitchell, Kev Tonks, Danny Kelleher and David Rush set the platform for rovers to finish the quater with the scores at 4-2 to Easts.

But the second quater saw Rovers outplayed and Easts started to rule the roost despite the efforts of the whole Rovers team especially Chris Taylor, Simon Vickers and Danny Jones. Easts scored succesive tries which saw the half time score at 4-9 to Easts.

The third quater though was a different ball game all together as Rovers took the initiative and mounted an outstanding comeback, Easts scored first but quick thinking from Taylor score the best try of the day when he took the tap off quickly to himself and went the full length of the field to score, and Rovers never looked back vickers, Tonks, Kelleher and Jones going over to see the score at the end of the third only 8-10 to Easts, Rovers Could have had another score but for the second game running Mitchell had a try dissallowed, leading him to believe his team mates are paying refs to not let him score.

The last quater saw the Costcutter Cup slip away and the difference in fitness was telling in a big way and Easts ran in 4 easy tries to run out 8-14 winners. Best for Rovers were Taylor, Vickers, Mitchell, and Kelleher, though the whole team was outstanding and can be proud of their effort.

Rovers next home game is next saturday (15th) when they embark on thier assault on the Tag Merit League V Rochdale Swarm 2.30 KO
